The EAC Men’s Volleyball Team bagged their fifth win after turning the tables around their favor against the San Sebastian Golden Stags in five sets, 25-19, 25-22, 19-25, 23-25, 12-25.
The opening set saw the Generals struggling to contain the Golden Stags with a 6-point deficit to close out the first set. Maintaining a good margin on the second salvo, the Red-and-White faltered in the slugfest, trailing by three points to wrap up the frame.
Attempting to shake off their shaky start, the Generals quickly adjusted their defensive hustle to gain the upper hand in the match. Undeterred by the 2-set loss, the EAC started off the third set strong, capitalizing on their good passes to orchestrate their impressive plays. Keeping their momentum on a roll, the Generals kept the Stags under control as they pulled off a stunning reverse sweep.
In an interview, Jan Ruther Abor emphasized that as long as the game continues, their battle goes on, “Hangga’t hindi natatapos yung laro walang titigil, kasi anything can happen… bilog ang bola, lahat pwede mangyari,” Abor said. “Gawin lang natin kung ano [hinanda] natin, then tapang [lang] sa loob ng court.”
Spearheading the scoring load, Jan Ruther Abor earned another Player of the Game title after tallying 26 points built on 24 attacks and 2 blocks. Followed by Ralph Tamayo and Michael Gela’s outstanding 14 markers.
