NCAA SRS Basketball Report

As of November 6, 2026

Group A Overview

Teams: CSB, JRU, LPU, MU, SBU

Group A showcases some of the league's most balanced and competitive teams. San Beda University (SBU) remains the best defensive team in the tournament, allowing only 65.5 points per game, while Mapúa University (MU) ranks second defensively with 66.75 points allowed per contest. These defensive numbers have helped both squads remain competitive despite ranking lower in offensive production.

College of Saint Benilde (CSB) leads Group A offensively with an average of 81.75 points per game and owns the league's best overall field goal percentage at 44.41%. The Blazers are particularly effective inside the arc, converting 54.62% of their two-point attempts.

Jose Rizal University (JRU) continues to demonstrate balance on both ends of the floor. The Heavy Bombers rank fifth in scoring while placing third in defense. They also dominate the rebounding category, averaging 45.46 rebounds per game. Lawrence Mangubat has emerged as the league's leading scorer with 17.08 points per game.

Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) ranks among the league's top offensive teams, averaging 80.17 points per game. Their attack is led by Matthew Rubico and Renz Villegas, while their bench contributes a league-high 40 points per game. However, defensive struggles remain a concern as the Pirates allow 85.75 points per game.

Mapúa University relies heavily on defensive discipline. Despite ranking last in offensive scoring at 69.17 points per game, the Cardinals own the league's best field goal defense, holding opponents to just 34.38% shooting. Marc Cuenco and Yam Concepcion continue to carry much of the team's offensive and rebounding load.

Group B Overview

Teams: EAC, CSJL, AU, SSCR, UPHSD

Group B has distinguished itself with high-scoring offenses and aggressive transition play. Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) currently owns the league's highest-scoring offense, averaging 84.83 points per game. The Generals also lead all teams in assists and rank among the leaders in forcing turnovers.

College of St. John-Letran (CSJL) follows closely with 82.42 points per game. The Knights are the league's best transition team, leading in fast-break points, steals, turnover points, and points in the paint. Their ability to convert defense into offense has been a major factor in their success.

Arellano University (AU) continues to rely on the scoring prowess of T-MC Ongotan, who averages 17.0 points per game. The Chiefs also take excellent care of the basketball, leading the league with the fewest turnovers at only 11.25 per game.

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) remains a balanced team with strong contributions from Mark Gojo Cruz, Leobert Casinillo, and Angelo Gelsano. The Altas rank among the league leaders in assists and continue to demonstrate effective ball movement and offensive efficiency.

San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSCR) has struggled on both ends of the floor. The Stags rank last defensively, allowing 86.46 points per game, while also leading the league in turnovers and personal fouls. Despite these challenges, Caesleyh Bacani remains one of the tournament's most accurate three-point shooters, converting 49.06% from beyond the arc.
