Updated: Sep 10

As the NCAA finishes its Centennial Season, the Oldest Collegiate Athletic Association in the Philippines, it initiated a logo-making contest to allow the general public to submit entries and be part of the new era of collegiate athletics. Amongst hundreds of entries, the Management Committee picked out 50 and then narrowed it down to 10, and then from there, the NCAA Policy Board and the Management Committee picked out the top 3.

After much deliberation, the NCAA Management Committee and Policy Board picked the entry of Mr. Jeffrey Salut, a native of Mabini, Batangas, who now works as an OFW in Dubai, UAE. According to Mr. Jeffrey Salut, "The reason I joined this competition is because of a dream — a dream to be recognized in the field of digital arts. It’s a dream to achieve something significant despite only finishing high school. Before my father passed away, he left me with words that became my greatest inspiration:

"Pasensya na kung hindi namin kayo kayang pag-aralin sa kolehiyo alam niyo ang sitwasyon natin, ngayon makipagsabayan ka sa lahat ng college graduates gamit ang iyong experience at talento."

One of the runner-ups is Ms Janelle Camacho, a 19-year-old college accountancy student from Marikina City with a love for creativity. According to Ms. Janelle Camacho, "since the beginning of my academic journey, this was the first achievement I celebrated as being one of the winners in the NCAA logo-making competition." Ms. Janelle Camacho also shared that this is her first time joining a logo-making contest. She said that graphics and design are not really her forte, but still, she decided to take a chance. And with that chance, she took a podium finish. She also would like to thank the Management Committee, according to her "i want to express my gratitude for everything that you've been doing to keep ncaa alive and exciting. Please continue to inspire more people to keep dreaming and believing in what we can achieve."

The other runner-up is Christian Troi Diaz, a 27-year-old self-trained graphics designer from Maasin City, Southern Leyte. According to Mr. Diaz "Backstory lang sa logo design concept ko po, inspiration ko po yung mga olympics style na design, and niresearch ko ng todo talaga regarding sa history ng NCAA. Nahirapan po ako at first pero still napasa ko po yung submission ko at exactly 11:59 pm ng first deadline." and Mr. Diaz also would like to say "I am super grateful po sa inyo, for picking my logo as one of the finalists. Especially during my birthday po nag text kayo about the good news. Tho di po ako maka punta sa Mapua (to claim the prize), I am still thankful sa opportunity and this milestone sa pagiging self trained graphic designer ko po." Mr. Christian Troi was not able to physically collect the prize as he is currently residing in Southern Leyte.

We would like to thank everyone who spent time and gave effort for their entries, and we truly appreciate it. Due to the lack of time for public voting, the NCAA Management Committee and Policy Board decided to make the voting an internal discussion amongst the Management Committee and Policy Board.
