The AU Lady Chiefs kept their campaign alive and breathing after dominating a crucial 3–1 victory over the JRU Lady Bombers in the women’s volleyball tournament, improving their record to 3–4.
AU came out blazing in the opening set, firing sharp attacks and dictating the tempo to seize a 25–21 win. The Lady Bombers, however, refused to fold. In the second frame, JRU tightened their net defense and showcased solid blocking, disrupting AU’s rhythm to even the match, 21–25. While the Chiefs focused on sharp receptions and steady floor defense, the Bombers capitalized on their wall at the net to swing the momentum.
Regrouping in the third set, AU unleashed a dominant run, overwhelming JRU with aggressive spikes and well-timed plays to take a commanding 25–16 victory.
The fourth set turned into a gritty exchange of rallies, but the Lady Chiefs held their composure down the stretch. With clutch hits and lockdown defense, AU sealed the deal, 25–21, with Catherine Domasig, player of the game executed 12 points and 10 total attacks securing the four-set triumph and reigniting their tournament drive.
As the Lady Bombers trying to clutch their way back into the spot this Saturday for their next game, “Ang stay lang namin for the next games ay yung defense namin which is maganda naman ang nai-defense ng mga libero namin and yung open ng mga wings namin.” In an interview with Kring Batara, Team Captain of the Lady Bombers.
